bmw's 2018 m5 super sedan is outrageous in many ways, from its $103,000-plus price tag and eye-catching marina bay blue metallic paint to its 600-horsepower, twin-turbo 4.4-liter v-8 used engine and customizable drive modes.
bmw says the m5 rockets from zero-to-60 mph in 3.2 seconds, making it the quickest m5 to date, and has a top speed of 155 mph. another first: the m5 is all-wheel drive, and bmw says the new m-spec system features a driver-selectable mode that only sends power to the rear should you want traditional rear-drive handling.
does it live up to the hype — and hefty price tag? that depends on how it's equipped. we spent a week in the m5, putting it through its paces on the road and testing out all of its new, customizable driver settings.
