approximately 6,300 model-year 2018 lexus ls 500 sedans and ls 500h hybrids equipped with run-flat tires
the problem: the tires were assembled to the wheels improperly and there's a possibility that a crack could develop on the sidewall reinforcement layer of the tires. under certain driving conditions, portions of the tread layer could separate, reducing stability and increasing the risk of a crash.
the fix: dealers will replace all four tires for free if one or more run-flat tires are manufactured by a specific supplier.
what owners should do: lexus manufacturer toyota will begin notifying owners by late april. owners can call lexus at 800-255-3987, the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
