once aging ungracefully and bordering on seminice, volvo's compact suv has been redesigned for 2018 — and the xc60 delivers new highs of luxury and refinement.
outside, the long, sculpted hood sits behind a vertical grille, flanked by headlight clusters that feature volvo's signature "thor's hammer" led daytime running lights. in back, the rear takes on a more angled look than its predecessor. inside, the focus is on technology with a new large touchscreen multimedia display taking up most of the center dash.
the xc60 comes in three flavors: the t5 (250-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder), the t6 (316 hp from a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder) and t8 plug-in hybrid (313-hp, supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with an electric motor and battery pack to boost total output to 400 hp). in our latest multicar challenge, we tested the t5 momentum trim.
how does it measure up? the suv went nose to nose against six other compact luxury suvs — including the 2018 alfa romeo stelvio, 2018 audi q5, 2018 bmw x3, 2018 cadillac xt5, 2019 infiniti qx50 and 2018 lexus nx 300 — in our latest multicar comparison. check back june 4 to see which suv came out on top in the 2018 luxury compact suv challenge.
