the reveal of the "all-new" 2021 ford f-150 was a bit disappointing in that it wasn't all that different from the 2020 model. well, there was the addition of some cool new productivity features and the addition of a hybrid powertrain. even better, the pricing of the new truck isn't that much different, either: the base xl model starts only $195 higher than the 2020 model, at $30,635.
that price is for the rear-wheel-drive xl regularcab with a 6.5-foot cargo box. upgrading to the four-wheel-drive model will cost an additional $4645. the base xl model also comes in supercab and supercrew configurations and starts at $34,720 for the former and $38,345 for the latter. on both the regularcab and supercab models we see a $195 increase over the previous model year's starting price and a $1365 increase on the supercrew model.
the xlt model, also available in two- and four-wheel-drive with regularcab, supercab, and supercrew configurations, gets a $290 price hike across the board. the rear-wheel-drive regularcab with a 6.5-foot cargo box starts at $36,745, the supercab at $39,655, and it's $42,005 for the supercrew. meanwhile, the lariat model, which is only available in supercab and supercrew configurations, gets $1945 more expensive on both configurations. the supercab starts at $46,890 while the supercrew starts at $49,250.
king ranch, platinum, and limited f-150s only come in supercrew configurations. the king ranch starts at $58,025 (a $3340 increase), the platinum at $60,805 (a $3590 increase), and the limited starts at $72,520 (a $3090 increase).
ford's also introducing a new twin-turbo 3.5-liter v-6 hybrid powertrain dubbed powerboost, and it's available on all trim levels. other than that, the 3.3-liter v-6, 2.7-liter ecoboost v-6, 3.5-liter ecoboost, 5.0-liter v-8, and power stroke v-6 diesel are carried over from the previous model year. on f-150s that have the standard 3.3-liter v-6, the powerboost hybrid costs an additional $4495. choosing the 2.7-liter ecoboost will add another $3300, and for the 5.0-liter v-8 and 3.5-liter ecoboost, tack on an additional $2500.
the 2021 ford f-150 is slated to arrive this fall along with the powerboost hybrid model, and ford says that an electric f-150 will be available within the next two years.
