2021 Honda Insight Revises Safety Features, Adds New Color

    the honda insight enters the 2021 model year with some slight revisions to its optional safety features. prices for the ex and touring trim levels rise by $500, while the base lx trim holds at the same $23,885 base price as last year. there's also a new color on board called radiant red metallic (pictured).

    instead of honda's lanewatch camera system, which provided a camera view of the passenger's side, the ex and touring trim levels now get a more traditional blind-spot monitoring system with warning lights for both driver and passenger sides that illuminate when the car senses a vehicle in the blind spots. it also now has a cross-traffic alert system. other driver-assistance features remain standard across the board as part of the honda sensing bundle.

    the ex now starts at $25,765, while the top touring starts at $29,795. all insights continue to come standard with a hybrid drivetrain that uses a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and provides an epa-rated 52 mpg combined for lx and ex models and 48 mpg combined for the touring trim. our 40,000-mile long-term test of a 2019 insight touring returned an average mpg number of 41 mpg overall.

    honda says the 2021 insight arrives at dealerships this week.
