from the factory, the new jeep wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid is already a capable wrangler with 10.8 inches of ground clearance and up to 30 inches of water-fording ability. now it can be had with a 2.0-inch lift kit, along with other off-road accessories, all from jeep performance parts.
the 2.0-inch lift kit costs $1495, and with it come fox shocks, front lower control arms, stabilizer links, bump stops, all the necessary hardware, and a jeep performance parts badge. all its high-voltage components are sealed and waterproof, of course. the 4xe is sold in sahara and rubicon trim levels, and an electric wrangler could be coming, too, as previewed by the magneto concept.
the 4xe is equipped with dana 44 axles and a two-speed transfer case that enables full-time four-wheel drive. under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four paired with two electric motors and a 17.0-kwh battery pack that generates a combined 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. the epa estimates the wrangler 4xe at 49 mpge, and it has an electric-only mode that delivers up to 21 miles of driving range.
jeep performance parts is also offering accessories similar to what's available on other jeeps: steel rock rails ($925), steel tube doors ($1195), a heavy-duty steel front bumper ($1275), a warn winch ($1595), and an led lighting kit with 7.0-inch lights ($725). additionally for the 4xe are 240-volt chargers (pictured) available from jeep, either hard-wired ($621.50) or plug-in ($647.90).
