ahead of the new 2022 tucson crossover's debut next week, hyundai has released more photos of a prototype version testing in europe. combined with last week's teaser images, we're getting a better idea of what the new compact suv will look like when it arrives in the u.s. later this year.
the tucson's front end is clearly taken from the vision t concept shown last year, and its grille shape and texture look distinctive. the triangular headlights are integrated with the grille shape, and although the sides and rear of this prototype are camouflaged, the teaser photos showed interesting side surfacing and a recognizable lighting signature at the rear. like other recent hyundai redesigns such as the sonata and elantra sedans', it appears the new tucson will have a bold look that should make it one of the most stylish suvs in its segment.
we're not sure if the europe-market version of the tucson pictured here will be exactly like the one we get in the u.s. hyundai has said that it will offer two different wheelbase lengths of the tucson for different markets, and we'd guess the american version will be the larger of the two. we don't expect the two versions to diverge much in terms of styling, however.
more information about the 2022 tucson is coming next week, as the new model will make its official debut september 14.
