the magic number for the audi r8 is 10. on the heels of the super car's redesign, audi is unveiling a special-edition version of the coupe that celebrates the model's 10-year history with its v-10 used engine . the audi r8 v10 decennium — that last word is latin for "decade" — will be unveiled at the 2019 geneva international motor show and limited to a production run of 222 units.
like the redesigned r8, the decennium model uses the naturally aspirated 5.2-liter v-10, a version of the used engine that was first used in model-year 2009 r8s. in the decennium model, it's good for 620 horsepower and 427.8 pounds-feet of torque — bumped considerably from the volume r8 model's 570-hp rating. audi says the v-10 shoots the decennium from zero-to-62.1 mph in 3.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 205.7 mph.
available in coupe-only body style, the decennium models wear exclusive daytona gray matte paint outside and get a host of other exterior enhancements, including milled 20-inch wheels and an intake manifold painted matte bronze, as well as gloss black and carbon fiber exterior trim.
inside, the cabin wears all black with a quilted rhombus pattern and contrast stitching in a gloss copper on the seats, and gloss black and carbon fiber panels trimming the cabin. the alcantara steering wheel and center armrest, the door armrest and the rail also feature copper-colored stitching.
the audi r8 v10 decennium goes on sale in germany in the spring starting at the european equivalent of roughly $253,000. no word yet on u.s. availability.
