after ram teased the trx to the world last week, the excitement was palpable, and now we have even more high-performance news from the house of horsepower. this morning dodge released a video teasing upcoming models. in typical dodge fashion, the video was a bit cryptic, featuring no images and no actual sheetmetal. however, what it did have was dodge's own rendition of "the star-spangled banner"—by way of electric guitar, of course—accompanied by the deep bellowing of hemi v-8s and copious amounts of supercharger whine to match the tones of the anthem, how american.
toward the end of the video a message flashes across the video stating, "8950 hp joins 2,827,753 strong." we're assuming the 8950 horsepower is a reference to the 2021 model lineup's combined horsepower and that they'll be joining the 2,827,753 horsepower that's already out there in the public. not to say that we couldn't be wrong, dodge has a history of posting cryptic videos and leaving us to decipher their meaning, but this one seems pretty clear this time around.
speaking on the teaser video, tim kuniskis, head of fca passenger cars for north america, said, "the sound of a screaming supercharged hemi is so distinctive that this teaser video doesn't need a single image . . . if you know, you know."
the final message in the video tells us this will all culminate on july 2, so no matter what crazy concoctions of horsepower they have in the works over at dodge, you can be sure that we'll all know about it just before we celebrate our country's independence on the fourth. knowing dodge, we expect that there should be sufficient muscle to be unveiled and considering the video, there will probably be a supercharged hemi or two. stay tuned.
