kia has yet to officially debut the newest version of its sorento mid-size suv, but we're now seeing it in full splendor thanks to these spy photos. captured during a photo shoot for the new model in california, this blue sorento looks considerably sharper than the current model, with cool detailing at the front and the rear elevating its look. while this appears to be the korea-spec sorento, we don't expect its basic design to change for the u.s. market when it arrives later this year.
while the doors, roofline, and overall greenhouse of the new sorento don't look too different from the current model, we're digging the front- and rear-end designs. modern-looking led headlights flank the nicely detailed front grille, and the rear is distinctive thanks to vertically oriented two-bar taillights on each side that go nicely with somewhat angularly sculpted tailgate.
a hybrid badge on the rear of this sorento confirms that gas-electric variants will be offered for the first time, as we previously reported. a charging port is not visible on this model, though, so this is the conventional hybrid rather than the plug-in-hybrid. gasoline four-cylinder and v-6 engine choices will be the standard powertrains in the u.s., and all-wheel drive will be an option even on the hybrid, as evidenced by the "4wd" badge also visible on the rear.
