we're just over a week away from the debut of the new jeep grand wagoneer, and jeep's social media profiles continue to give glimpses of the new full-size suv. we can see its overall shape in the latest video, and the teaser itself plays up the wagoneer's luxury image, claiming to show "the shape of premium."
fill in the grand wagoneer's blank silhouette with the few details that jeep has shown so far in other teaser posts, and you can start to get an idea of what it will look like. it'll surely be big, brash, and ostentatious, with lots of chrome trim. the interior, too, is shaping to be nicely trimmed, signifying that jeep is likely aiming more for upmarket full-size suvs such as the cadillac escalade and lincoln navigator rather than downmarket versions from chevy and ford. as such, its price will likely rise well into the $70,000 and even $80,000 range, not entirely unprecedented considering loaded versions of the grand cherokee reach well into the $60,000 range.
underpinning the grand wagoneer will be the ram 1500's chassis, and the jeep is likely to share its powertrains with that pickup as well. we expect v-6 and v-8 versions at first, with hybrid and plug-in-hybrid variants to follow.
the wagoneer and grand wagoneer debut september 3 and will go on sale in the u.s. sometime in mid-2021.
