- jeep released more teaser photos of the new grand wagoneer, and has also announced a reveal date: september 3.
- the teaser photos reveal a front grille with a retro look and lots of chrome.
- the wagoneer and grand wagoneer will likely go on sale in mid-2021.
jeep has again teased the new grand wagoneer, revealing a retro look with an affinity for chrome. more importantly, the automaker has announced an official debut date of september 3 for the forthcoming suv. the up-close photos give us an idea of what the grille looks like and a glimpse at the intricate details on what seems to be some sort of interior knob.
the photo of the grille shows that jeep is maintaining some of the design cues from older grand wagoneer models, including the chrome and a squared-off design. take a look at the wagoneer roadtrip concept shown in 2018, which was based on a 1965 wagoneer, and there's a clear resemblance between the old and new grille shapes.
the photo of the interior knob leaves quite a bit to the imagination, but does show off jeep's attention to detail in revamping this classic suv. we know that it'll be offered in two versions, the wagoneer and grand wagoneer, with the latter likely being an extended-wheelbase sibling to the former. the suv will have its sights on the chevy tahoe and suburban. it's expected to ride on the ram 1500's body-on-frame platform and come with two engine options, a v-6 and v-8. hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are also expected.
just last friday, jeep revealed the badge of the grand wagoneer, as well as the interior start and stop button. so with one more friday before the september 3rd reveal, perhaps another teaser is due before we see the full vehicle.
