  • Previously, only the Maserati Levante offered the powerful Trofeo trim; now, both the Ghibli and Quattroporte will have Trofeo models.
  • All three will be offered with a Ferrari-built twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-8 engine that makes 580 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque.
  • This will be the first time the Ghibli offers a V-8, according to Maserati, which also claims that it and the Quattroporte will be the fastest Maserati sedans ever, with a top speed of 203 mph.

Last year, Maserati announced that the Levante would get a Trofeo trim level, which came with a new, more powerful engine developed by Ferrari—and we couldn't get enough of that Italian steed. Maserati must have read our review and then decided to bring that V-8 to other vehicles. Of course, it's possible it was already in their product plans; who knows?

Regardless, what matters is that the Trofeo range is being expanded to the Ghibli and Quattroporte and they will also get that twin-turbo V-8 with 580 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. With a claimed top speed of 203 mph, Maserati says these will be the fastest examples of each sedan ever.

While the Levante comes with all-wheel drive, the Ghibli and Quattroporte will get proper sports-car treatment with rear-wheel drive and a limited-slip differential. All three will have power directed to the wheels with an eight-speed automatic transmission. To get the most out of that V-8, the Ghibli Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo—like the Levante Trofeo—will have a Corsa button for more aggressive driving, and there'll also be a launch control button.

The two sedans, with the new Trofeo trim, get updated looks including carbon fiber trim on the front air duct and rear extractor and updated light clusters in the rear, inspired by the 3200 GT and the Alfieri concept car. The Trofeo Ghibli and Quattroporte will both get 21-inch aluminum wheels, while 22-inch aluminum wheels are available on the Levante.

Just last month, Maserati revealed the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque that will power the forthcoming Mc20 sports coupe. We await the opportunity to drive these new Maseratis soon.
