  • nissan is giving a preview of several new models as it announces a transformation plan for the next four years.
  • the plan involves cost-cutting, dropping certain models from the lineup, and reducing the company's production footprint.
  • the new and updated models we spotted in this teaser video include the new 400z and redesigned versions of the rogue and pathfinder suvs.

nissan has had a difficult few years, and the best way to look to the future is with exciting new products. that's why the company is now giving us the first official look at next-generation z sports car. seen in a video along with several other new products set to debut soon, the new z—thought to wear a 400z nameplate—looks good and has us even more excited to see it in the flesh.

the long-hood, short-deck proportions that have characterized all z-cars is in play here, and the bulging rear haunches and modern-looking headlights give the new model an athletic stance. the new "z" emblem sits just behind the window surround and just below a chrome strip that runs from the leading edge of the front window along the greenhouse.

as we've detailed before, the 400z is expected to have a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter v-6 engine with at least 400 horsepower. we're hoping for a six-speed manual transmission, and a seven-speed automatic is also a likely option.

    other new nissans

the other new nissan models seen in this teaser video may not be as exciting as the new z, but they are significant. it appears that nissan's aging suv and truck lineup will be significantly refreshed over the next year or so. we've identified the models seen here that are relevant for the u.s. market, excepting the global vehicles shown in this lineup that won't come here.

ariya (top left): this all-electric crossover is the production version of the concept car nissan showed last year.

armada (top second from left): the full-size suv looks to get a styling update which should hopefully bring a more modern interior.

frontier (top third from left): nissan's mid-size pickup truck will finally be redesigned for the first time in more than a decade, and it will be powered by the new 3.8-liter v-6 engine first seen in the 2020 frontier.

kicks (top fourth from left): a facelift appears to be on its way for nissan's smallest crossover offering, first introduced for 2018.

pathfinder (bottom second from left): this is the redesigned version of nissan's three-row mid-size suv.

rogue sport (bottom third from left): nissan sells this small crossover as the qashqai globally, and imports it to the u.s. as the rogue sport.

rogue (bottom fourth from left): the rogue is nissan's best-seller and will be new in the u.s. for 2021.
