Chevrolet officially revealed the redesigned 2019 Silverado ahead of the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, after a brief taste at an event in Texas in December. The half-ton pickup truck features an extensive exterior redesign, complete with "gills" beside each headlight that channel air around the truck to improve aerodynamics. Designers focused on aerodynamics when designing the new Silverado 1500 in an effort to improve fuel economy.

Additional touches outside include a bed that is almost 7 inches wider than the previous generation, giving the Silverado 1500 the largest available pickup bed in its class.

Inside, our editors were most thrilled about one seemingly minor detail: The steering wheel is now centered on the driver, where before it was slightly offset. That might not seem like a big deal, but — trust us — it will be nice not to feel like something is slightly out of place when driving. More storage, new gauges, slightly upgraded materials and increased head- and legroom round out the interior updates.
