Watch a Lamborghini Urus Outrun a Porsche 911 GT2 RS on the Nürburgring

  • in a video that surfaced on youtube, a 911 gt2 rs and urus battle it out on the nordschleife on a rainy day.
  • the gt2 rs is a rear-wheel-drive car, and the urus is all-wheel drive, so we aren't surprised by the outcome.
  • we'd love to see a 'ring rematch or lap time set by lamborghini, because the urus was just recently crowned the suv king of our annual lightning lap test.

we all know that the nürburgring nordschleife is the place to determine the true track capabilities of performance cars. but when automakers compete to set the fastest times, they're doing so under the most ideal conditions. contrast that with this video, which shows two daring drivers of a porsche 911 gt2 rs and blue lamborghini urus who battled it out on the 'ring in some, let's say, less than ideal conditions.

the driver of the urus, aptly named powerslide lover on youtube, is able to keep a safe distance ahead of the gt2 rs throughout the entire almost 10-minute lap. at the beginning of the lap, however, both the gt2 and the urus pass a gt3 rs that looks as though it's not having such a great time.

keep in mind that the gt2 rs held the record for the fastest production car around the 'ring in 2017 with a blistering time of 6:47.3, until it was beaten last summer by the beefed-up svj variant of the lamborghini aventador.

the gt2 rs is also a rear-wheel-drive car, and the 5000-pound urus has an all-wheel-drive system, so it's not really all that surprising that the porsche wasn't able to catch the lamborghini suv in these slippery conditions. the 700 horsepower produced by the gt2's 3.8-liter flat-six is a handful in dry weather, so props to the driver for tackling the 'ring in these conditions.

the driver of the gt2 said that he had to constantly adjust the throttle to avoid wheelspin, and that's expected. the highest speed we see the gt2 achieve in this run is around 130 mph. apparently the driver of the urus originally wanted to lap the 'ring in his 488 pista before the rain kicked in, and his porsche-driving friend gave him the genius idea of having a go in his urus instead, which was equipped with the factory pirelli p zero tires.

lamborghini has yet to set a nürburgring lap time in the urus, although the company claims that the suv can lap the green hell quicker than a gallardo. we'd love to see a rematch of the two in drier conditions, considering that the urus was just recently crowned the suv king of our annual lightning lap test.
