Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2,100 model-year 2015-16 Mercedes -AMG C63 sedans; model-year 2015-17 C63 S sedans; and model-year 2017 C63 S coupes and C63 cabriolets
The Problem: The rear axle differential mounting flange may fracture from repeated aggressive launches, causing the rear differential to become misaligned; this could result in the failure of the driveshaft and a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will update the vehicle's stability system software and chassis control unit software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Mercedes -Benz will begin notifying owners in December. Owners can call the automaker at 877-496-3691, the National Highway Traffic Safety Ad Mini stration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
