The Problem: The vehicles may have excess bulkhead insulation extending into the lower windshield area, possibly affecting the windshield bonding and the deployment of the passenger's frontal airbag in a crash, increasing the risk of an injury for the front-seat passenger.
The Fix: Dealers will remove any excess bulkhead insulation and rework the windshield bonding, as necessary, for free.
What Owners Should Do: Mercedes -Benz will begin notifying owners in December. Owners can call the automaker at 877-496-3691, the National Highway Traffic Safety Ad Mini stration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
