2017 Honda Civic: Recall Alert

                                                      2017 Honda Civic: Recall Alert
2017 Honda Civic

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 5,400 model-year 2017 Honda Civic sedans and coupes

The Problem: The right half-shaft may have been improperly heat-treated, reducing its strength. This can result in the half-shaft breaking, preventing the Used Engine from moving the vehicle. It can also allow the car to roll away if the parking brake is not engaged, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the half-shaft's serial number, replacing it as necessary and aligning the front wheels for free.

What Owners Should Do: Honda will begin notifying owners Dec. 15. Owners can call the automaker at 888-234-2138, the National Highway Traffic Safety Ad Mini stration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
