New Buick Regal GS Trades Turbo 4-Cylinder for V-6

New Buick Regal GS Trades Turbo 4-Cylinder for V-6

Buick's revamping its Regal lineup for 2018 with the Sportback and TourX wagon models, and now details about a new higher-performance GS model are dribbling out. According to a Buick owner's magazine, the previous model's 259-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter Used Engine will be replaced by a 310-hp V-6; displacement numbers haven't been announced.

Buick currently uses a 310-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 in other vehicles like the LaCrosse, so that's what'll likely be borrowed by the GS. The 2018 Regal Sportback gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making an estimated 250 hp and 260 pounds-feet of torque; in the all-wheel-drive TourX wagon, torque climbs to 295 pounds-feet.

Other details on the GS model are still under wraps, though the magazine also leaked that the new version will have aggressive exterior design cues, including a larger textured grille.
