only 50 examples of the nissan gt-r50 by italdesign, which starts at the equivalent of $1.1 million, are going to be produced, but good news: nissan has announced that a limited number of reservations for the remaining cars are still available.
nissan says that customers will be able to get behind the wheel of their one-off gt-r50s between late 2020 and the end of 2021. the prototype, based off the current-generation gt-r nismo, debuted in 2018 when nissan partnered with italdesign to conceive the limited-edition car to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the gt-r.
the twin-turbo 3.8-liter v-6 in the gt-r50 makes 710 horsepower and 585 lb-ft of torque, up from the gt-r nismo's 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft. that's thanks to beefed-up turbochargers taken straight from the gt-r gt3 race car, paired with bigger intercoolers and high-flow fuel injectors and oil jets. the six-speed dual-clutch transmission has also been upgraded, and new bilstein adaptive dampers are fitted.
nissan's not saying exactly how many of the 50 gt-r50s are still available, but if we had $1.1 million laying around, we'd be quick to reserve our spot. the first customer model will be on public display at the geneva auto show next march; but first, it's making a tour of events in japan, including the nismo festival at fuji speedway on december 8.
